VANLYFE finds what you need on the road: restrooms, showers, drinking water, power and Wi-Fi, free and paid camping, gas prices, propane and dump stations, food pantries, free meals and markets, EBT stores, shelters, clinics and more, anywhere in the US. Place data downloads once per state and then works offline, and the map fills in as you zoom out, up to the whole country. The Today tab shows the local forecast and weather alerts, wildfires within 100 miles, sunrise and sunset, and today's events nearby.
Frequently asked questions
Why does VANLYFE ask for my location?
To sort places by distance, center the map on you, and show your local weather on the Today tab. Your location is never sent to us; the Today tab sends it to the National Weather Service to get your forecast (see the privacy policy). You can still browse the map and search by place name without it.
Does it work offline?
Yes. The places for a state download the first time you look there and stay on your phone. To keep the map itself offline, save an area in Community › Settings › Offline maps before you lose signal.
How do I add a spot or a photo?
Create a free account in Community › Settings › Account. Then tap + (Add a spot) at the top of the list to submit a new place, or open a place and tap Add photo or Suggest edit. New spots and edits are reviewed before they appear for everyone; photos appear right away.
How do I message another traveler?
Set up your profile in the Community tab, then open someone's profile (from Nearby, or by tapping them on the map and choosing View profile) and tap Message. Your first message is a request: you can send more once they accept it.
How do I report a message or block someone?
In the chat, press and hold the message and choose Report; it's hidden at once while we review it. To block someone, tap their name at the top of the chat, then Block. They can't message you, and you won't see each other on the map or in Nearby. Unblock them under Community › Blocked people.
How do I report a photo?
Open the photo full screen, tap ••• in the top-left corner, then choose Report. The photo is hidden for everyone immediately while we review it.
How do I report wrong information about a place?
Open the place and tap Report problem, then choose what's wrong. You don't need an account. The place stays on the map while we review it.
How do I hide someone's photos?
Open one of their photos full screen, tap •••, then choose Hide photos from this person. Their photos stop showing on your phone.
How do I delete my VANLYFE account?
In the app, open Community › Settings › Account and tap Delete account. Without the app, email kevindpostal@gmail.com from your account's email address with the subject "Delete my VANLYFE account"; we delete it within 7 days. Deleting removes your account, your profile, your conversations and messages, your photos, and your traveler profile and position. Spots and edits already published in the map data stay, without any link to you.
Moderation
We review every report within 24 hours. Photos, profiles and messages that break the rules are removed, and accounts that post them are removed. Everyone who posts agrees to the Terms of Use.
